I own and operate a Model 5 Linotype. This is the fourth Lino I have owned and so far as I know, the only operational linecasting machine of any kind in the State of Arizona. I have a substantial amount of experience and knowledge in transporting, repairing, and operating Linotypes. No experience with Intertype (the imitator) or Ludlow, but I could probably figure them out. I am not a professional repair technician. However, I could probably help on an informal basis if anyone in this region needs it.

I have mostly worked in the newspaper side of the industry. Sydney Daily Telegraph from 1959 till 1970. Sydney Morning Herald from 1978 till 1985. I worked for the Sydney Morning Herald as a Linotype mechanic. I worked for Canadian Linotype as a Linotype and Photo Typesetting engineer for 13 years. I returned to the Sydney Morning Herald in 1970, where I installed a Linofilm System and was put in charge of the company’s conversion to cold type, and direct entry of copy by Editorial and Advertising personnel. Currently I am a volunteer in the South Coast Restoration Society’s Printing Museum on Queensland’s Gold Coast. We have restored a number of hot metal and letterpress machines which we can demonstrate. We are currently working on a Printomatic Stop Cylinder press.
